Sensei Keith Holland 3rd Dan (Kurai Aikido Secretary)

Sensei Holland began his martial art training in 1961 studying Judo for 7 years under Sensei Masutaro Otani 7th Dan, until a serious back injury curtailed further training.

In 1983 he took his son to "The Hut" ( Institute of Aikido) which started his own life passion for aikido. Moving to Kurai, in 1987, he became increasingly involved as Secretary to both Kurai Aikido and the EYJ Martial Arts Centre.

Aware of his deep interest Sensei Sheppard 6th dan would often take time to give him a personal explanation of how techniques worked and one day gave him what he describes as “his greatest gift”, by working out a series of ukemi, to enable him to train without further damage to his back

Sensei Holland was graded 1st dan in 1998 and in 2006 was promoted to 3rd dan by Sensei Sheppard 6th dan. He is a qualified BAB Coach, Children’s Coach and First Aider.

Sensei Holland is also currently:-

Vice Chairman - British Aikido Board (National Governing Body for Aikido in UK) Convenor - Heads of UK Shinwakai Aikido ( Association Managing Body)

Sensei Holland has also received a number of awards including:- National Association of Clubs for Young People - Keystone Silver award for 20 years Voluntary Service to Young People London Federation of Sport & Recreation Silver award for 20 years Voluntary Service to Sport.
